ThunderFortress

Thunder Fortress (サンダーフォートレス), also known as Balg (バルグ), is the fourth boss from Raiden II.

Details[]

The Thunder Fortress is a multi-part gunwall on rails. Once approached the first part will start moving back, constantly casting lightning bolts which activate various turrets on the platforms above it. The first part is soon joined by two smaller parts and attaches itself to the central one. Once the three moving parts are destroyed the central part will start moving and cast lightning to activate turrets on the sides while shooting at the player.

Attack Pattern[]

Phase I:[]

The Sub components of the Thunder Fortress will enter battle phase as it forwards through the fortress itself, once it appears in the hangar it will start shooting bullets in random and starts Zapping pillars (also in random locations) making the fight harder, If you kill this Sub Component before it gets into the fortress it will be an easier job to kill the turret components afterwards.

the Side components of the fortress will enter in and start shooting bullets at you, its best way to destroy these components before destroying the main core of the Main component

The Main component is located near the fortress. At first it will start shooting bullets at you and these are destroyable, if you have Nuclear Missiles at your disposal it's best way to time and kill the destroyable turrets. If all Sub Components are destroyed, the Main Component will Enter Phase 2.

Phase II :[]

This Phase begins if you destroy all of the components of the Thunder Fortress, the shell covering the fortress will expose The Crystal. the Main component will start to move upward and downward spreading bullets in wide directions and starts zapping pillars activating them as turrets. BE CAREFUL nearing this boss as its lightning bolts can kill you, the best way possible is to stay at the bottom at the screen. Once it sustains heavy damage the Main Core will OVERLOAD and it will be annihilated, there's also chance of The Crystal will survive and flee from the battle.

Trivia[]

  • The fight is very similar to Gijido, once you destroy the components the shell of the core itself will be exposed making the boss lose its armor by half.
  • The Destruction of the Thunder Fortress is very unique, the Overload comes in first, randomly firing Thunderbolts on the screen before it's fully annihilated.
